Information we process

We process only the information needed to provide, protect, and improve the service. This may include:

• The YouTube URL or video ID you submit, the selected summary style, and the language of the page.
• Publicly available video information and captions retrieved for the submitted video.
• The generated summary, its title, processing status, and related technical metadata.
• A random anonymous browser identifier stored in an essential cookie. The server uses a hashed value to associate saved results with your browser without requiring an account.
• Request, device, log, and security information, such as an IP address or user agent, that may be processed by our hosting and security providers.
• Information you include when you contact us by email.

How we use information

• Retrieve video information and captions, generate summaries, and deliver saved results.
• Cache video information, captions, and summaries so the same content does not need to be processed repeatedly.
• Apply service limits, prevent abuse, investigate errors, and maintain reliability and security.
• Respond to support, privacy, and other messages.

Cookies and optional measurement

YS Summarizer uses an essential HttpOnly cookie named ys_anonymous_id. It normally lasts for up to one year and allows this browser to access its anonymously saved results. It is not an advertising identifier.

Analytics or advertising services may be enabled only when they are configured for the website. If enabled, those providers may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser or any consent controls provided on the site.

Caching and retention

Video information and cache indexes may be stored in Cloudflare D1, while captions and generated summary files may be stored in Cloudflare R2. Cache entries can be shared by video ID, language, and summary style to reduce repeated external requests and AI processing.

We do not currently promise one fixed retention period for every record. Information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed to provide saved results and caching, operate and secure the service, resolve problems, or meet legal obligations. Public-source video data and shared cache entries may remain after an individual browser association is removed.

Service providers and sharing

Cloudflare provides hosting, content delivery, security, database, object storage, and AI processing. An external video parsing service receives the submitted YouTube URL or video ID when needed to retrieve video information and captions. Optional analytics or advertising providers receive data only when those services are enabled.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to operate the service, comply with law, protect rights or safety, or investigate abuse.

International processing and legal bases

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where applicable, we rely on processing necessary to provide the service you request, our legitimate interests in security and reliable operation, legal obligations, and consent for optional technologies where consent is required.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information associated with you. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and complain to your local data protection authority.

Because anonymous results are linked to a browser identifier rather than an account, we may need information such as a result link to locate a record. Some requests may be limited by shared caches, legal requirements, security needs, or our inability to verify that a record belongs to you.

Security, children, and policy changes

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. The service is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The revised version and its effective date will be published on this page.
